Awesome Thing: 2

Having a Good Sense of Style

Wine Date

I love, love clothes and I'm super glad that I'm a cheep shopper. I can find A-mazing deals on top notch brands. My fave stores are Tommy Hilfiger, Banana Republic and Aeropostale. I love having a great sense of style for many reasons. The one being the fact that no matter what embarrasing thing I might end up doing, I'll look good doing it. I don't keep up with the trends n'all that stuff, I just like feeling unique and myself.

Having a good sense means dressing like yourself.

I'm not bragging but I'm being thankful that I was able to grow up with a mom who told me how to dress. I'm glad that she was there to tell me fashion don'ts and to tell me about all the great stores out there. But most importantly, she taught me how to bargain shop.

So I would pray that all of you would be able to experience a visit with the best fashion consultant- your mom/dad. They've been through it all- the good, the bad and the ugly.

Awesome Thing: 1

Today is the start of my christmas break awesome challenge.

Awesome thing number 1 is

Mean Teachers Who Help You In The Future

In grade 10, I had this not so very nice drama teacher. Now, the thing you need to know is that I have stage fright. So what exactly was I doing in Drama. No, it was not an accident or the usual mistake that the school system can make- I made that choice to take drama class in grade 10. You see, I had to take an "art" to pass highschool and since I can't sing or draw/paint/use pastels, I was stuck with taking drama. This teacher would yell at you for making to much noise with your pencil. I know.

But you know what? She was so mean that she got me over my stage fright. Like honestly. I can know do so much infront of a group of people without worrying. And why is that? Because no one can make me feel as uncomfortable on stage as that drama teacher would make me feel.

Today, I performed at my highschool talent show with confidence. I did the song Don't miss it by Francesca Battistelli in ASL (American Sign Language).

Awesome!

River of Lights Holiday Show at Albuquerque’s Botanic Gardens.

I follow this blog/website Kevin and Amanda and todays post was amazing. As you can already tell by the title, it's about this amazing lights show. Here are a few photos a snatched off of her website and so all the credit goes to Amanda and her mad photo skills.

I especially love the bear on the rocking horse.
For all those music lovers. I think this is so cute
This is inside a lighted castle that was guarded by soldiers. "Spooky" as Amanda said.
Beautiful!

I will end this post with a song i heard at the christian club at my school. Christmas must be something more by taylor swift. Thank you taylor for making the message clear to everybody. I'm glad that taylor wrote this song since she is a huge role model in today's society and so many people will look up to her and here this message. Enjoy!

Book Of Awesome Trailer

So you all know that I've been posting about "Awesome things". Well here's the trailer for the Book of EVEN MORE Awesome. I really, really want this for christmas. Maybe this is a great idea for a last minute gift.

I personally love this book because it helps me notice the little things in life that do matter and are there for a reason. I actually have made my own, very lengthy, list of awesome things in life. It took me 1.5 hrs while working at my dad's pharmacy (so that wasn't the only thing I was doing). You try it! Post your list of awesome either on your blog or.... leave one awesome thing in your life in the "comments". I will have an awesome challenge coming up that I will very much try to do during the christmas break. I will post about that later. And for now...

AWESOME !

Want:Scrapbooking Need:Time Don't have:Time

Love these paper piecing ideas from Scrapbooketc.com

For more info on this piecing go to

I'm also falling in LOVE with these scrapbook page ideas.

A great way to incorporate journalling into scrapbooking. Very cute. You can also full the rest of the page with more souvenirs and tickets/brochures.

Very cute and looks like a journal page with the "drawn" hearts and the nice font for the word smiles. To check out come really cool fonts check out Kevin and Amanda's website.

I love, love, love cutting photos into shapes. It adds a lot of focus to a picture. I will definitely try this layout someday.

Play around with tapes and photo sizes. Looks fun and easy to make.

Great for trips. I actually have a scrapbook paper pad with various NEw York backgrounds. I like buying my scrapbook pads from homesense and winners because I find them MUCH cheeper than the ones at Michaels.

This one isn't anything new, I just think that it would be easy to make and looks professional. Minimal supplies needed,

Winter! Yuck! As much as I hate snow, I can't escape it. So while kids are playing outside in the snow, I think I'll be drinking hot chocolate and making this fun looking scrapbook page.

All photo layouts are NOT mine but found on scrapbooketc.com. I would recommend that every scrapbooker, whether beginner or advanced, should check out this magazine or at least the website.

Once Again I LOVE SMACKSY

This is the same blog I'm obsessed with, and here's why:
This is a post form a couple days ago. I've been meaning to repost it but haven't gotten around to it. Lisa's  (the blog owner) toddler son is the first one to speak in the dialogue that follows.

"Mom. Your birthday was in September."

"That's right."

"When's the next birthday?"

"Well let's see... MeeMee's is in January."

"Someone else has a birthday before MeeMee."

"Who?"

"Jesus. It's called Christmas, Mom."

Isn't that so sweet. I wish that every child could know that. Sometimes, with all the rush and busyness of Christmas we all forget this great message. We all forget that there IS a birthday to be celebrated. Christmas has been so busy nowadays that we sometimes want it to be over.

And sometimes, just sometimes,

We need a little 4 year old to remind us that Christmas is Jesus' birthday.

Another Wonderful Blogger

So, I've talked about Smacksy before in the past. In this post and in this one. Well, today I'll be talking about a different blog. Or blogger to be exact.
Mandy. Mandy runs the blog She Breathes Deeply. She is a wonderful christian who enjoys doing christian yoga. Just today, she posted a video about Holy Yoga. This is an enspiring message and i urge you to read it.

Thank you Mandy so much. This video has just made my day.

When I'm sad or weary I think going back to this video will help a lot. I can reflect on my life and ask myself if I'm living for the Lord. If not, then maybe that's the reason why I'm not successful. These thoughts remind me of LOVE IS HERE by TENTH AVENUE NORTH. Here are the lyrics and even reading them might help you feel like you have less of a burden to carry. I know it makes me feel that way.

Come to the waters, you who thirst and you'll thirst no more.
Come to the Father, you who work and you'll work no more.
And all you who labor in vain and to the broken and shamed:

Love is here.
Love is now.
Love is pouring from
His hands, from His brows.
Love is near, it satisfies.
Streams of mercy flowing from His side.
Cuz love is here.

Come to the treasure, you who search and you'll search no more.
Come to the lover you who want and you'll want no more, no.
And all you who labor in vain to the broken and shamed,

Love is here.
Love is now.
Love is pouring from
His hands, from His brows.
Love is near, it satisfies.
Streams of mercy flowing from His side.

And to the bruised and fallen,
Captives, bound, and broken hearted.

He is the Lord,
He is the Lord,

By His stripes He's paid our ransom
From His wounds we drink salvation

He is the Lord,
He is the Lord.

Love is here.
Love is now.
Love is pouring from
His hands, from His brows.
Love is near, it satisfies.
Streams of mercy flowing from His side.
Streams of mercy flowing from His side.
Cuz love is here.
Love is here.

Wonderin' and TobyMac

2 Things here:

1. This post title is influenced by Tobymac, a christian hiphop arist. I went to his concert a while back and hope that I'll get around to posting pics and videos about it. So check out his song Wonderin' on Youtube.

2. I was wonderin' about this nail polish. I really like it. But should I buy it?

Happy October

Here's the third dosage of awesomeness. If you haven't had the first or second doses yet, read them here.

But... here's today's:

#142 Red Rover

It’s pretty simple.
A line of kids hold hands on one side of the playground while a kid from the other side runs at them with a head full of steam and tries to bust through.
The game’s not over until the field is littered with broken arms, bloody noses, and shattered glasses.
It’s one of the most dangerous playground games out there.
And one of the most fun.
AWESOME!

Second Dose of Awesome Blog

#371 Seeing old people holding hands

It’s what life’s all about.
Seeing old people holding hands is a symbol of alifelong companionship full of knowing glances, inside smiles, and warm feelings in waiting hearts. As you watch them mosey down the boardwalk during the sunset you can’t help see the connection of two hands that helped shape the world. Those hands made meals, held babies, mowed lawns, and fixed cars. They held faces, went places, called friends, and touched stars.
They tried and built and grew together. They lived and learned and loved together.
Seeing old people holding hands is a simple expression of long lasting affection that fills our hearts with hope. They show us a future world exists of tied-together hearts and long lives lived with someone someone we love.
AWESOME!

Let's Take A Break

So I though that I should take a break from the Disney Lessons to make sure that everyone has had a chance to read them. I have found this great challenge that will be especially fun during the school year. Hope you guys feel God calling you to do the same. You can visit her site at http://www.francescamusic.com/.

Disney Lesson 2

Here's your second dosage of Disney Lessons:

I think this lesson speaks for itself, to any religion and to any gender.
Jealousy is a sin that shows that you're being controlled by your own desires rather than you controlling your desires. The bible says Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy... 1Corinthians 13:4.
The more we focus on ourselves and our own desires, the less we are able to focus on God or things that matter most. Being jealous indicates that we are not satisfied with what God has given us.
You might not realize it but you, too, might be guilty of feeling jealous. You can be jealous of another's:

  • Authority, power, leadership
  • Abilities, talents, skills
  • Personality, social standing
  • Age, youth, maturity, experience
  • Opportunities and privileges.

Disney Lesson 1

Bet you didn't know that Disney was great at teaching lessons. Here's the first one:

Watch what you say, for the bible is very practical when it states:
But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these make a man `unclean'. (Matthew 15:18)
You can be skilled with your tongue just as David was skilled against Goliath. You don't need to come up with witty or clever, just let the holy spirit use you in ways you can't even imagine.
I went to a youth conference 2 years back and the speaker there gave a very clever acronym. I go down that list and unless what I'm going to say passes the test, I try not to say it at all. Is what you're about to say:

True?
Hinder or hurt?
Inspire?
Necessary?               (I struggle with this one often)
Kind?

Think Before You Speak

Jamie Grace- Hold Me Video

So today I went to the Gotee Records website to find out that Jamie Grace had made a music video for the song I loved and bought- Hold Me. I'm not a big fan of Gotee videos because they're always out of place and not fun to watch. But I'm a fan of Jamie Grace so here's the video. Ha! Tobymac is almost unrecognizable.

Pass The Video and tell me so that I can check it out.

Check This Blog Out: So Optimistic.

http://1000awesomethings.com/      This blog is counting down 1000 awesome things to be thankful for. Countdown with me.

#175 When your footsteps line up perfectly with the black and white floor tiles

Brain, you´re funny.
Who knows what caveman electronsare firing you up on a daily basis? Something must have been programmed in a while back to make it so enjoyable to pop bubble wrap, hear frozen puddles crack, or stab those little buttons on top of the soft drink cup lid. Click clack, neutrons snap, brain cells buzz and smiles attack whenever those feel-good jabs start feel-good jabbing.
When your footsteps line up perfectly with the black and white floor tiles it´s like the stars are aligning for a quick little minute of fun. Perfectly avoiding all sidewalk cracks, squeezing through a door as it´s shutting without touching it, and walking onto escalators without breaking your stride all come close, but not much feels as good as Checkerboard Stepping all the way through that snobby lobby.
Let the front desk staff all stare in awe, drop their jaws, and burst into applause.
You just nailed it, my friend.
Right when it counted most.
AWESOME!

I have mastered "Tonight" by Fm Static and "You Belong With Me" by Taylor Swift. I really wish I could master this song, but he goes waaaay too fast and that song is pretty hard. It is really fun to watch though.

Lifehouse

This band is so awesome. I heard them twice on Air1 radio. It is a christian radio channel i encourage you to listen to. I love that radio channel because the saying is the positive alternative
So they don't necessarily play christian music but they play christian singers and bands like owl city and life house. The main singer in owl city is a christian and the lead singer and bass are christian in the band Lifehouse
Here is a recent song I've heard that really touched me. Tell me what you think of it.

Proms and grads are all this week. I am not at the age of attending any but my sister will be graduating today. If I were to wear a prom dress, this is what it would look like:

OR maybe this one if I'm feeling a bit adventurous.
As you can see, I love the colour blue.
But what if I try another colour?
This is a bit less fancy but a lot of chic.
I can stick to the green colour but if I go
DARKER
It looks a bit fancier.
Which one of these dresses do you like most?
